Ah man, #oorlogskloof … what a place this rugged #WarGorge ravine is, hidden away off the beaten track at the top of #VanRhyns Pass, and a mere 20km from the quirky village of #Nieuwoudtville. This Namaqua West Coast region nature reserve is encircled by the deep cleft carved by the eponymous river, and it is a place where Old Testament gods hold sway.
Gargantuan kloofs, primary forest dells – dotted with clivias, bosmania lilies and gnarled wild olive trees – and deeply cleft sandstone cracks make the 16km #LeopardTrap Trail more of a scramble than a trek, but one thing you can bargain on is outstanding #adventure. Go explore this hidden gem, and you are sure to lose yourself in a wilderness of unparalleled natural grandeur.
