The OTTER African Trail Run, presented by SALOMON and GU – and organised by Magnetic South – kicked off today with the 3.7km Salt River Prologue. This short, sharp and rocky route is used to seed athletes going into the big race, and with perfect weather expected for tomorrow’s humdinger 42.2km endurance marathon, tension is at breaking point in Nature’s Valley. It is so tense in fact, that I may have to drink another glass of shiraz in order to settle my nerves before the big event … Seriously, the field of athletes arguably rates as the strongest ever at a trail running race in South Africa, and this once again proves the OTTER is the Rainbow Nation’s undisputed ‘Grail of Trail’. Best of luck to all the runners for tomorrow, and see you out there!
