The #Bloukrans Crossing always makes for excellent drama at the annual @salomon_sa @otterafricantrailrun. And today’s #retto2018 #Challenge has been no different, with some pushing swell pumping into the mouth. Right now, the leaders are at #ngubu hut, where the inimitable Robert Le Brun will surely entertain them with bad jokes and sweaty hugs.

It’s a slow challenge this year, probably on 6hrs for the leaders, once again proving how tough the #Otter can be. It’s unforgiving. It’s in your face. It’s the undisputed #grailoftrail, and this year, it kicks up another level as the final event in the #goldentrailseries. This is as close to a world-championship #trailrun as one can get, with our local #SA trail heroes being joined on this gruelling but beautiful marathon-distance route by the world’s top off-road endurance runners.

Names like Kilian Jornet Marc Lauenstein Ruth Croft Sage Canaday Laura Orgué &Stian Angermund-Vik will make for a mouth-watering contest, especially when pitched against our own Christiaan Greyling MegMackenzie Robyn Owen and Kane Reilly. There’s only one guarantee, and that is that there’s no guarantee who will walk away victorious at #retto2018. Let’s just say it’s #TimeToPlay
