Just to the north of ‘Die Baai’ – as locals refer to #HondeklipBay – you will find a hide-away dorpie by the name of #Koingnaas. This tiny mining settlement packs a superb #tourism punch, with dozens of astounding #outdoor adventures, not to mention a rich history and fascinating arid ecosystem. Such a cool journey with @petervankets!
The word ‘Koingnaas’ comes from the #Khoekhoen people, and means ‘sweet water’. The reason for the name is that one of the biggest fresh-water aquifers in all of #southafrica is found here. We had the privilege of visiting these transcendental dunes atop the aquifer with local nature guide, @peebsman1 for one of the best #4×4 day outings imaginable. This proved a superb test for our @isuzusa vehicles & @dunloptyres #GrandTrek wheels (not to mention the drivers).
This @northerncapetourism region surely rates as one of the best places in #ZA to #PlayLocal and #StayLocal. This is exactly what @beyondexped #beyondlockdown was all about: supporting local tourism. This short #video by @andrehugomedia is a taster as to why millions of people from all over the planet visit our country for their #outdoor fix!
