Four days in, and the Belgian Team Versluys are still hanging on to their lead. The competition are hotting up though, and with the weather cooling down, I’m hoping to see one of the SA teams take a stage off these two amazing athletes.

Today was basically mountain biking heaven for stage racers, with constantly changing terrain and vegetation. About 50kays in from Riversdale, the peleton looped into the mountains above Heidelberg to experience the gloriousness that is Grootvadersbosch, and for a couple of hours they lost themselves within this piece of fantastical fynbos paradise.

Back roads then boomed them down south and under the N2, for a final with Mother Nature within the Bontebok National Park. Tomorrow with take the Transcape race field from Swellendam to Greyton, with a whole new bunch of adventures along the way. Bring it on!
