I’d rather not share the exact location of this remote piece of shoreline slumbering along the northern reaches of the Noord-Kaap’s coast. Let’s just say that conservation efforts here are already under enough pressure from rampant rogue mining and botanical poaching.
With the help of Protect the West Coast, I’m hoping that the dedicated local conservation community will succeed in proclaiming this as a gazetted nature reserve in the very near future. Once you dip into this arid #strandveld biome, a
thousand tiny treasures await, including critically endangered conophytums and crassulas.
The northerer you go, the wilderer the #WestCoast gets, but there is not a single moment that this part of South Africa does not grab you by the throat – or whisper seductively in your ear – to demand your undivided attention. Love you long time,
