Raid International Gaspesie – Day 0

Prologue Day at RAIDig2014 dawned grey and rainy, with Team Green Things joining 90-odd other athletes at the start arch on a spit of sand in the Carleton-sur-Mer bay. Ahead of them waited a technical 20km-plus route winding first along the coastline, and then into the densely wooded mountains overlooking the Baie de Chaleurs region of Quebec, Canada.

Even top teams took nearly 3hrs to complete the Prologue Course, with Saffers Jeremy Green and Nicolas Bladergroen pushing hard to get a Top 10 spot in a competitive field from 11 countries.

Tomorrow, a 100km route awaits, with mountain biking, canoeing, trekking, canyoneering and another slack-line ropes section to solve. Hopefully the weather will clear, allowing the racers to revel in the gorgeous scenery of this amazing part of Quebec.
