The journey continues northwards along the Northern Cape Tourism Region’s #diamondcoast as our #beyondlockdown2 expedition explores all those moer-and-gone back roads traversing the rural heart of South Africa. Today saw us concentrate on the dorps of #PortNolloth and #Kleinzee, both set upon the desolately beautiful #noordkaap coastline. Larger than life characters abound, as does quirky cafés, earthy guesthouses and wide-sky landscapes.
Huge swell meant that grinding waves were charging relentlessly at the rocky coast, and their heavy-lipped fury proved to be too much of a challenge. We have a plan, though, and will be be pointing the Isuzu South Africa #DMAX and #MUx towards a more protected break tomorrow in the hope of wetting our boards. In the meantime, there is so much beauty to go around here on the #bossieveld coast, as Oom Dudley proved on a short botanical hike. The #Molyneaux Reserve brims with a good 180 plant species, but you need an expert eye to unearth these little desert treasures. Which is a bit like #satravel, with thousands of gems just waiting to be discovered as you #StayLocal and #PlayLocal.
