Immersing ourselves in the natural world that is our backyard here in the #BeautifulSouth. Late night missions to #FishHoek beach to grab the tail-end of the magical ocean light show, and a sunset hike up Trappieskop to see the #lunareclipse. Both events were breathtaking to witness

CHEAT ALERT (just for transparency, as there are thousands of #AI ‘creations’ floating about): My #bloodmoon image is a composite of two separate moonrise photographs, captured from the same spot a couple of years apart. Robs is standing on the rock where we sheltered last night, but I mirrored his image and then overlayed a 600mm telephoto pic I took of the partial eclipse as a double-exposure.

The original images are included for reference. To actually capture an image with a human to scale relative to the size of the moon, you’d need an impossibly large lens, and a vantage point that perfectly positions you to get the shot, so don’t believe everything you see on the internets. Also, there seems to be a drone (or a plane or alien spacecraft) in my original Blood Moon image. There’s no cheating involved there
