The #mtbroutes crew’s final ride at Retreat Guest Farm was one of those truly ‘mistical’ missions, ascending both the #BeaconAisle and #Perdekop climbs in dense, pea-soupy fog. These trail sections both rate as outstanding rides, with zigzagging contours using the natural rock and structure to consistently push your skills limits without compromising rideability.

So great to spend 3 hours of #mountain time with @Karyn Marais cranking the gritty and very dramatic ridges of the breathtaking #PiketBoBerg. It truly is an incredible escape from everyday life, and certainly a place we will return to again and again. Tranquility, headspace and natural grandeur make it a natural movement paradise for the whole family, with outstanding hikes, open-water farm dam swims and endless #singletrack to explore.

With 24km of purpose-built track – bermed and scaped, but with enough rock gardens to keep it real – this was a perfect trail network to test-ride the Avalanche Bicycles – Cape Town #MTe and get time in the saddle on my Giant Bicycles South Africa #XTC. And read a book, watch a sunset and listen to Cape eagle owls woot-wooing about in the craggy outcrops dipping away towards the distant #Cederberg. Thank you, @Jane Patterson … absolutely idyllic 🙏💙
