Rodrigues Island Extreme Trail Run

There were Grannies and Grandpa’s, and toddlers galore. There were octogenarians. There were incredibly brave paraplegics in wheelchairs, and kids with disabilities. And literally people of all shapes and sizes. The annual Rodrigues Island Extreme #TrailRun brought the whole of the island to a standstill, with an incredible 1400x competitors over the four distances ????????????

And, of course, there were the thoroughbred trail runners from all over the world, mostly French-speaking nations, with a seriously competitive field. Christiaan Greyling (4th) and Landie Greyling (2nd) had to work damn hard to claim their podium spots, mostly along typical island terrain where the free kilometers are few and far between. Sandy beaches, craggy volcanic ridgelines, humid forest sections, coastal forest and slippery tree roots: these were a few of the natural obstacles.

It was also great to see Laurent ValetteYan de MaroussemClaudia Fong Kye and the great athletes of #Reunion hammering home! Thanks again to Remy Caroline, @Arnaud Meunier, the #FrancoisLeguat Giant Tortoise Park, #AirMauritius and the other sponsors who made all of this possible.
