The Hunt for Headspace …

On Monday morning, our Beyond Expeditions #BeyondLockdown Expedition, driven by Isuzu South Africa, sets off from Cape Town. This 9000km road trip will follow the most remote roads in South Africa, and along the way, we plan to visit 9x community tourism projects, one in each of the nine provinces.

Our hope is to re-ignite #localtourism through highlighting and promoting these far-flung community adventures, and by enticing people to visit the breathtaking landscapes within which they are set. And as part of the process, we will create a full quiver of visual collateral – including professional Stills, 360 Degree Imagery, Aerial Footage and broadcast-quality Video – for each of these off-the-beaten-track destinations with which to market themselves.

We’ve decided to kickstart the adventure with one of our most favourite regions in all of SA: the Namaqua West Coast. The first #localislekker stop will be at Piekenierskloof Wines before we hook up with Monika De Jager and the rest of the #visitNWC Crew. Our story here will capture the ‘Search for the Big One’, and we will join local fishermen and crayfish divers as they dip into the Big Blue in search of the bountiful treasures of the Atlantic Ocean. The images below are from one of our previous #Weskus visits …

Along the way, we will endeavour to find those characters who can best share the quirky stories, culture, history and cuisine of the #namaquawestcoast, and will then amplify their message across all our #BeyondExpeditions#IsuzuSA and personal #SocialMedia Platforms. As usual, Chief Adventurer Peter Van Kets, Peter Kirk and Zane Schmahl of #oZONE will be joining #DieOom as we capture all these wild and wonderful #playlocal and #staylocal tourism opportunities.

Some of our other destinations and adventures include Kalahari Trails and dune-tracking with the !Khomani San people; wild camping on a remote island on the vast #VanderkloofDam with Karoo Gariep Conservancy; free-diving the #MaricoEye sinkhole and visiting the lost #Lotlamoreng Village with Galefele Matlhwăi Molema; doing a #graffitiride in Jozi with Eelco Meyjes; reconnecting with nature in #Magoebaskloof with the #LoveLimpopo team near Zwakala Brewery; trekking #Mariepskop and navigating the #geotrail through the ‘oldest mountains on Planet Earth’ at Songimvelo Game Reserve; experiencing the ultimate Ocean Adventure at Utshwayelo, Kosi Bay Mouth Lodge & Camp in iSimangaliso Wetland Park; and finally going utterly #WildCoast bedonnerd at Hole In The Wall.

This is the tip of the tourism iceberg awaiting you once local travel options open up (and we promise you, these are the places YOU want to go and visit)! The idea is to keep things fluid on purpose … you never know where those back roads may lead, and what we will discover along the way
