What a baptism by fire for the new Isuzu South Africa #DMAXbold at a pretty ramped-up and and rocking Klein Tafelberg 4×4 Trail. The 3l LS was straight off the factory floor, without any mods or accessories, so it was always going to be a big ask (especially as I was still running the standard Dunlop Tyres SA #AT25 Tyres).
This does not give you much ground clearance once you’ve dropped the tyre pressure to 0.6 Bar, so I cannot wait to fit the #AT3G 3-ply rubber next week. That said – and in the company of some beefed-up off-road competition – this bold #IsuzuSA bakkie proved to be a gutsy all-rounder punching way above its expected off-road pedigree.
The well-mapped engine and gear ratios saw it excelling in insane cross-axling conditions up the sand-suck of ‘Steven’s Hill’ and ‘Heartbreak Hill’, and also negotiating the rock step-ups in admirable fashion despite a few hits. I cannot wait to see her levelling up once she has been properly prepped for our upcoming #BOLDventure Expeditions by the crew at Perdeberg Isuzu
Huge thanks to Dolf, Elize and the rest of the #KleinTafelberg team, and of course to Nomonde and her unbelievable Bergrivier Tourism people … You guys rock (and so does the sandstone rock on the cliffs rising up above those exceptional #sandveld plains)! Stay tuned for updates and more imagery on our hiking, rock climbing and firearms #adventure at this amazing #outdoor destination!
